Annual General Meeting - We hold our AGM on the third Sunday of April (unless advised otherwise). This meeting is for our members only (not open to the general public). Notices are mailed out to members to advise the time and location. Nominations are called and the new executive appointed. Recent guest speakers have included: Birgitta Ferguson (Vikings & L'anse Aux Meadows), Bjarni Tryggvason (Canadian Astronaut), and Lt. Governor J. James Kinley. Our AGMs are well attended, offering an evening of interest with a chance to socialize around a buffet of wine & Scandinavian cheeses. We often have a "Meet 'n Greet" afterwards to welcome new members to the Society.

May 17 Celebrations (Norwegian National Holiday) - Join us each year in May as we celebrate Norway's National Holiday, with great food, singing, games and races for the children (and adults!). Be sure to bring your flags, a treat for the dessert table and wear something Norwegian - your national costume if you have one! An email is sent out to members to advise when and where this event will be held.

Family Yuletide Celebration - This annual core event is very popular with Society members. It brings back memories how Christmas is celebrated in the different Scandinavian countries. This is important information to pass on to the children. There are crafts for the kids, traditional Scandinavian foods, a visit from Father Christmas, and singing of traditional Christmas songs in both Scandinavian languages and English.

If you have ideas/suggestions for this event, please pass them on to the Executive so we can make this celebration even better!! An email will be sent out telling members where and when the next event is to be held. Contact: Marshall Burgess Tel: 902-429-9073 or email marshallburgess@ns.sympatico.ca
